Iran Proposes Creating an 'Islamic NATO' Uniting 57 Muslim Countries

Iran has put forward an initiative to establish an 'Islamic NATO' that would unite 57 Muslim countries. This was reported by Iran International.
According to reports, this proposal was made by a special assistant to the Iranian Interior Minister. He emphasized that if Muslim countries unite under a single alliance, they could become a major political and military force.
According to the author of the initiative, such a union would increase influence through energy resources, economic opportunities, and strategic directions. In particular, control over the Strait of Hormuz was mentioned as one of the key factors for this alliance.
So far, it is not known whether other Muslim countries have officially responded to this proposal.
