Shericka Jackson wins Xiamen Diamond League with record-breaking performance

The latest stage of the Diamond League, one of the most prestigious and grand tournaments in the world of athletics, kicked off in the beautiful Chinese city of Xiamen. As expected, these competitions, which brought together the world's fastest athletes, delivered true speed and excitement to athletics fans. In the intense and breathtaking women's 200m race, two-time world champion and famous Jamaican sprinter Shericka Jackson demonstrated her absolute dominance, securing a beautiful and convincing victory.
The pride of Jamaican sports, Shericka Jackson, crossed the finish line in just 21.87 seconds setting a new Xiamen tournament record. Notably, she was only 0.01 seconds shy of the world's best seasonal result this year.
Jackson took the lead on the track from the very first seconds after the starting gun. Especially during the most difficult part of the distance—the curve—she displayed her maximum speed, extending the gap between her and her rivals significantly.
Season records were no match for Jackson
Shaunae Miller-Uibo took second place with a time of 22.04 seconds, while Anavia Battle completed the top three with 22.29 seconds. Although both runners chasing Jackson on the track set their personal and season-best marks, they could not pose a serious threat to the Jamaican speed queen.
Additionally, 2023 world champion Sha'Carri Richardson also updated her season record in this race, finishing fourth with a time of 22.38 seconds. Great Britain's representative and world championship silver medalist Amy Hunt finished seventh among the nine elite sprinters.
18-year-old Chinese prodigy: Historic result in javelin throw
Another sensational and unforgettable historic event at the Xiamen Diamond League took place in the javelin throw sector.
The 18-year-old Chinese talent Yan Ziyi, who launched the metal javelin to a massive distance, 71.74 meters recorded a staggering result. With this mark, she stunned the world of sports, becoming the author of the second-best result in the history of women's javelin throw.
It should be noted that Yan Ziyi had already shattered the junior world record at the age of 17. Just one day after her 18th birthday, she broke three major records at once in front of her home crowd:
Diamond League meeting record;
New Asian record in athletics;
New world record for athletes under 20 (U-20)!
This young Chinese prodigy has proven in practice that she is the top favorite for the upcoming Olympic Games.
Do you think 18-year-old Yan Ziyi will manage to break the absolute world record in women's javelin throw in the near future?
