Samsung is preparing a new Ultra smartphone: Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra details

Official names and key technical specifications for Samsung's upcoming foldable flagships have been revealed. According to Sammobile, the Korean giant is preparing to release the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra models. The presentation of the new devices is expected at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22, alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 8. This is reported by Ixbt.com .
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will be the direct successor to last year's Galaxy Z Fold 7, maintaining its status as the primary premium solution. The name Galaxy Z Fold 8 will be given to a completely new modification—previously referred to in leaks as the Fold 8 Wide. This smartphone will feature a wider and shorter screen, similar to the design of the expected foldable iPhone. However, users will have to compromise for the new form factor: the base Fold 8 will lack one of the rear cameras.
Despite the Ultra suffix in its name, no revolutionary changes are expected in the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. According to current information, the device will be equipped with a 5000 mAh battery, 45W charging technology, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera. Unfortunately, it will not feature the advanced zoom, 60W charging, or S Pen support found in the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Interestingly, it is speculated that Apple's first foldable smartphone will be named iPhone Ultra. It is unclear how much this influenced Samsung's decision, but the Korean brand has been using the Ultra suffix in its Galaxy S line since 2020. Therefore, it is difficult to accuse the company of copying a competitor.
