Russia's "Kondor-FKA" satellite has sent an image confirming the fragmentation of the A23a iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean, Roscosmos reported.
"The world's largest iceberg, A23a, has split into fragments. Its current state can be seen in the image," Roscosmos stated in its announcement.
According to TASS news agency, this ice sheet had a surface area of approximately 4,200 square kilometers when it broke off in 1986.
For comparison, this is nearly twice the size of the total area of Saint Petersburg.
