Renault to fully acquire Nissan’s India plant
Renault is acquiring a 51% stake in the RNAIPL plant from Nissan, gaining full control over the production site located in Chennai, India, speedme.ru reported.

The plant has a capacity of over 400,000 vehicles per year. Renault plans to launch the CMF-B platform at the facility and produce four new models.

While Nissan will still have access to the factory, it will focus more on local projects. The Renault-Nissan alliance is also restructuring, with both companies possibly reducing their mutual stakes to 10%. Nissan is officially exiting the Ampere project.

Starting in 2026, Renault will develop a new model for Nissan based on the next-generation Twingo. India remains a strategic market, and Renault is accelerating its growth there under its global strategy through 2027.
