Dongfeng to produce Peugeot and Jeep models in China

Stellantis has signed a new partnership agreement with Dongfeng. Under this deal, two new Peugeot and two new Jeep models will be produced at the plant in Wuhan, China, starting next year. These vehicles are intended not only for the Chinese market but also for global export. This is reported by Autocar.co.uk .
The new Peugeot models will be based on the Concept 6 and Concept 8 prototypes showcased at the Beijing Auto Show. These include a vehicle with a unique body style similar to the 508 and a flagship model expected to be the largest crossover in the French brand's history. Under the Jeep brand, the production of a new generation of electric SUVs is planned.
The project is valued at 1 billion euros, with 130 million euros invested by Stellantis. This partnership is supported by the automotive policies of Hubei Province and the Wuhan administration. This step is part of Stellantis' strategy to expand its production capacity in China.
Peugeot CEO Alain Favey noted that these models will test the company's ability to adapt to global market demands using Chinese technologies. According to him, some technologies provided by Dongfeng may even be more advanced than European standards.
