BYD unveils new hybrid SUV to compete with Land Rover Defender

BYD plans to launch a seven-seater hybrid SUV by the end of this year. This model is expected to be a serious competitor to popular off-roaders like the Land Rover Defender. In terms of dimensions, the new vehicle will sit between the Defender 110 and 130 models. This is reported by Autocar.co.uk reports .

The Ti7 model will be equipped with BYD's new 'DM-p' hybrid system. It consists of a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, two electric motors, and a 35.6 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery. According to the company, the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and can cover up to 127 kilometers on electric power alone.

The exterior of the vehicle is reminiscent of classic 4x4 off-roaders. Although it will be sold under the BYD brand in the UK market, it is actually a model produced under the Fangchengbao brand in China. Experts note that the Ti7 has a unibody construction, primarily aimed at buyers who prefer off-road styling for urban environments.

The price of the car has not been officially announced yet, but it is expected to be BYD's most expensive flagship model. It is highly likely that the model's debut will take place at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July.
