Roma signs centre-back Gilardi on five-year deal

Roma’s press service has officially announced the signing of a new player. The capital club has added central defender Daniele Gilardi, who has joined from Verona. The 22-year-old member of Italy’s youth national team has signed a five-year contract with the Roman side.

According to Italian media, Roma paid €10.5 million (excluding bonuses) to secure Gilardi’s transfer. The defender has chosen number 87 at his new club.

For reference, Gilardi became Verona’s main center-back during the past Serie A season and made 24 appearances. However, he did not stand out for his offensive contributions.
