Nigeria defeats Gabon to win $120,000

The Nigerian national team narrowly defeated Gabon in the first playoff match. The regular time ended in a 1–1 draw, but in extra time, the "Super Eagles" intensified their play and scored three more goals against their opponent.

They will now face the Democratic Republic of Congo for a spot in the FIFA World Cup. Meanwhile, the players were financially rewarded for their victory against Gabon.

Immediately after the match, a representative of the Nigerian Football Federation came to the dressing room and presented the team with $120,000. "Each goal was rewarded with $30,000," he stated.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
