Juventus lose at home and drop out of the top three

One of the most unexpected results of the 2025/2026 Serie A season took place in Turin during the 37th round. Juventus hosted Fiorentina, but the match at the Allianz Stadium ended in a difficult defeat for the hosts. In a game officiated by Davide Massa, the visitors secured a 2-0 victory, dealing a serious blow to the Turin side.
At the start of the match, Juventus tried to take the initiative as the home team. They attempted to press high, but Fiorentina defended in an organized manner, denying the hosts any space. The visitors relied on speed and precision in every counter-attack.
In the 34th minute, Fiorentina capitalized on their opportunity. Midfielder Cher Ndour opened the scoring, putting the visitors ahead. This goal significantly impacted Juventus' plans. Although the Turin side tried to turn the tide before the break, the first half ended with the 'Viola' in the lead.
In the second half, Juventus played with more intensity to salvage a result. The hosts tried to increase the pressure around the opponent's penalty area. However, Fiorentina players defended coolly and managed to slow down the tempo when necessary.
In the 72nd minute, the situation became complicated for the visitors. Fiorentina defender Luca Ranieri received a red card, leaving his team with ten men. It seemed like a good opportunity for Juventus to get back into the game, but the Turin club could not fully exploit their numerical advantage.
Instead, in the 83rd minute, Fiorentina struck again. Rolando Mandragora finished accurately, doubling the visitors' lead. After this goal, Juventus' chances of a comeback were virtually gone. For the fans, it was a cold shower.
This defeat came at a high cost for Juventus in the standings. After 37 matches, the team dropped to sixth place with 68 points. The most painful aspect is that the Turin side had been in the top three until this round, but after the loss to Fiorentina, they plummeted from 3rd to 6th place.
Fiorentina now has 41 points and sits in 15th place. For the Florence club, this victory was not just three points, but a psychologically important result at the end of the season. Scoring a second goal while a man down demonstrated the team's character.
Now, the final round of the Serie A season takes on great importance. Juventus, led by Luciano Spalletti, will face Torino on May 24th in the 38th round. Fiorentina will face Atalanta on the same day.
There is no room for error left for the Turin club. Every point at the end of the season could affect their future in European competitions. Juventus must recover quickly from this defeat, otherwise, their end-of-season plans might remain beautiful on paper but painful on the pitch.
