Casemiro chooses Inter Miami: To play alongside Lionel Messi
Legendary Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, who has left Manchester United, is close to continuing his career in the USA's Major League Soccer (MLS). The experienced player has chosen Inter Miami over numerous offers and is expected to take the pitch alongside Lionel Messi soon. This is reported by Goal.com reports .
According to The Athletic, the 34-year-old has firmly decided to join the Vice City project. LA Galaxy had also fought hard for the five-time Champions League winner, Casemiro. Although the California club holds the 'discovery rights' to the player under MLS rules, the Brazilian star personally preferred the Miami option.
To complete this transfer, Inter Miami's management will need to use financial creativity. Since the 'Designated Player' spots are currently occupied, Casemiro will initially receive a salary covered by Targeted Allocation Money (TAM), similar to Jordi Alba. Later, his salary and status are expected to increase once space becomes available.
If the deal is finalized, Inter Miami will pay compensation to LA Galaxy to acquire the rights to negotiate with the player. This process is similar to how the Los Angeles team previously paid $400,000 to Charlotte FC for the Marco Reus transfer.
If Casemiro joins the team, he will play alongside not only Lionel Messi but also stars like Rodrigo De Paul and German Berterame. This transfer is expected to be one of the most significant steps in strengthening the squad for the Miami club, which is going through a difficult period following the departure of Javier Mascherano.
