Joan Laporta calls Florentino Perez's accusations ridiculous

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has responded sharply to the latest statements by Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez regarding the "Negreira case." Laporta called these accusations "ridiculous" and accused the capital club's leader of trying to hide his team's failures. In his view, such sensationalist outbursts from the Madrid side are a strategic move to cover up a two-season trophy drought. This is reported by Goal.com .

During a press conference as part of his re-election campaign, Perez claimed that titles had been "stolen" from Real Madrid due to the "Negreira case." In response, Laporta stated that he would not tolerate baseless attacks against FC Barcelona. According to him, the Madrid club is using Barcelona's name to hide its own problems, a situation that has further soured relations between the two clubs.

"I think it's just ridiculous, but there is a clear strategy behind it," Marca quotes Laporta as saying. "They are throwing mud at Barcelona to justify the fact that they haven't won anything in two years. We will not allow this, and our club will respond appropriately. They need to stop blaming us to cover up their own issues."

The Barcelona president also emphasized that Real Madrid's actions indicate internal insecurity within the club. Laporta affirmed his agreement with vice-president Yuste regarding the misinformation spread by the Madrid side and stated firmly that the Catalans will continue to defend their honor. Currently, relations between the two giant clubs are considered completely severed.
