Martin Odegaard's critics surprise John Arne Riise

Former Premier League and Norway national team star John Arne Riise has expressed his surprise at the criticism directed at Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard. According to him, questioning the midfielder's performance and contribution to the team is completely baseless. This is reported by Goal.com .

Since moving to the London club from Real Madrid in January 2021, Odegaard has become an integral part of Mikel Arteta's system. Initially signed on loan, the player was later transferred permanently and quickly rose to the level of team captain. However, recent injuries and a decrease in goal contributions have sparked complaints from some fans.

In an interview with GOAL, John Arne Riise said: “I am shocked to see Arsenal fans criticizing him on social media. When he is on the pitch, he changes the team's entire game. His energy, leadership, and passing are amazing. Even after returning from injury, he immediately regained his top form.”

Currently 27 years old, Martin Odegaard has already made over 230 appearances for Arsenal. Although his efficiency metrics have dipped slightly this season, experts continue to highly value his ability to dictate play from the center of the pitch.

Concluding his remarks, Riise emphasized that Odegaard is a crucial figure not only for the club but also for the Norway national team. In his opinion, the captain's work off the pitch and his desire to win are key to the team's success in the Champions League and domestic competitions.
