Girona and Mallorca relegated from La Liga

A series of matches from the 38th round of the Spanish championship has concluded, answering one of the season's most painful questions. Girona and Mallorca will spend next season in the Segunda División.
Before the final round, the situation at the bottom of the table was extremely tense. Several teams fought to use their last chance to remain in La Liga. However, the final results were not what Girona and Mallorca had hoped for.
Mallorca hosted bottom-placed Real Oviedo at home and secured a convincing 3-0 victory. Torre, Morlanes, and Muriqi scored for the hosts. Despite Muriqi's effective performance throughout the season, the team failed to secure their spot in the elite division.
The win seemed to give Mallorca hope, but results from other matches did not go their way. The team finished 18th with 42 points and was relegated to the Segunda. This is one of football's cruelest moments: you win on the final day, but it is still not enough to survive.
Girona drew 1-1 at home against Elche. Rodriguez put the visitors ahead in the 39th minute. Martinez equalized early in the second half. However, this draw was not enough for Girona. The team finished 19th with 41 points and bid farewell to the top flight.
Thus, Girona and Mallorca join Real Oviedo as the teams relegated from La Liga. Osasuna and Levante managed to stay in the top division based on tie-breakers. Although the season was difficult for these two clubs, they achieved the most important goal: staying in the elite.
La Liga. Matchday 38
Girona — Elche 1:1
Goals: Martinez 48 — Rodriguez 39
Mallorca — Real Oviedo 3:0
Goals: Torre 42, Morlanes 83, Muriqi 88
In short, the final round of La Liga ended with great drama at the bottom. Mallorca won and Girona picked up a point, but it wasn't enough for either. Now they begin a new journey in the Segunda to rebuild and return to La Liga. Football is cruel: sometimes it's not just 90 minutes, but the whole season that demands an account.
