The second stage of the international "Grand Chess Tour 2026", the "2026 Super Chess Classic Romania", took place in the Romanian capital, Bucharest, from May 14 to 23. Leading grandmasters from around the world competed in this tournament, which is considered one of the most prestigious events in global chess.

Pleasingly, our talented chess player Javokhir Sindarov defended the honor of Uzbekistan in this competition. He fought on equal terms with strong opponents and once again proved his level on the international stage.

A total of 10 high-level grandmasters participated in the tournament. Each of them possessed great experience, a high rating, and strong preparation. For this reason, intense competition, deep calculation, and immense pressure were felt in every game in Bucharest.

Javokhir Sindarov demonstrated consistent play throughout the competition. He achieved important victories over strong opponents in several games, maintained his composure even in difficult situations, and ultimately managed to break into the top three.

According to the final results, Vincent Keymer from Germany took first place with 6 points. Renowned American grandmaster Fabiano Caruana took second place with 5.5 points.

Our compatriot Javokhir Sindarov scored 5 points and secured an honorable 3rd place. This result is another major achievement for Uzbek chess, as finishing in the top three at a tournament of this level is a significant recognition for any chess player.

In the competition, which had a total prize fund of $475,000, Sindarov also earned a cash prize of $63,300. This is not only a financial incentive but also further proof that his position in the international chess elite is strengthening.
