Real Madrid fans bid tearful farewell to Alaba and Carvajal

In an emotional evening at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid supporters paid a fitting tribute to David Alaba and Dani Carvajal. During the match, which ended in a 4-2 victory over Athletic Club, fans recreated Alaba's iconic "chair lift" celebration, while Carvajal could not hold back tears as he concluded his illustrious career. This is reported by Goal.com .

When Austrian defender David Alaba was substituted in the 68th minute, the entire stadium lifted chairs into the air, recalling the tradition that became popular after the dramatic Champions League victory against PSG in 2022. Alaba, who battled severe injuries in recent seasons, expressed his gratitude to the club management, teammates, and fans as he left the pitch.

"Thank you for the love and support you have shown over these five years. It means so much to me that you were by my side, especially during my serious knee injury. You will always remain in my heart," David Alaba said in an interview with RMTV.

Dani Carvajal, one of the most decorated players in club history, also could not hide his emotions during the farewell. The right-back specifically thanked president Florentino Pérez for bringing him back from Germany and extending his contract just 24 hours after his severe injury. In his speech, Carvajal also thanked his parents and wife, emphasizing that Real Madrid will always continue to win.

This farewell ceremony became a symbolic event marking the end of a golden era in Real Madrid's history. Both players left Madrid as legends who brought numerous Champions League trophies to the club's museum.
