Luka Modric sets two conditions for contract extension with Milan

Luka Modric is ready to extend his current contract with Milan, but the 40-year-old midfielder's stay at the San Siro depends on two key conditions. The Croatian star has had a fantastic season under Massimiliano Allegri, but his future is directly linked to Champions League qualification and the coach remaining with the team. This is reported by Goal.com reports .

According to Calciomercato.it, Modric wants to extend his contract, which expires on June 30, and continue his adventure in Italy. The veteran, who joined the team last July, has an option to extend his deal until 2027. Unlike his time at Real Madrid, he has successfully adapted to a more defensive role at Milan and impressed everyone with his professionalism.

For the 2018 Ballon d'Or winner to stay in the red-and-black jersey, Milan must first secure a Champions League spot. The experienced playmaker wants to participate in Europe's most prestigious tournament next season. Sunday's decisive match against Cagliari is crucial, as finishing in the top four will satisfy Modric's main requirement.

The second key condition is that Massimiliano Allegri remains as head coach. A strong mutual respect has formed between the coach and the player throughout the season. Allegri highly values how Modric has embraced new tactical duties without question. It is even speculated that after Luka Modric hangs up his boots, he could join Allegri's coaching staff.

Once his club future is resolved, Luka Modric will focus on the World Cup with the Croatia national team. He will lead his national side as captain in the group stage matches against England, Panama, and Ghana.
