Mohamed Salah says tearful goodbye to Liverpool

Mohamed Salah bid an emotional farewell to Liverpool on Sunday. The Egyptian superstar, accompanied by his two daughters, could not hold back his tears in front of the Kop stand. Amidst a guard of honor formed by his teammates and the applause of the Anfield faithful, he brought an end to a legendary nine-year spell filled with goals and trophies. This is reported by Goal.com reports .

A video posted on the official Premier League X account captured the moments following the 1-1 draw between Liverpool and Brentford on the final matchday of the 2025-26 season. Standing in the center of the pitch, Salah was overcome with emotion while listening to the fans singing "You'll Never Walk Alone." The forward savored his final moments in a Liverpool shirt and expressed his gratitude to the supporters.

Substituted for Jeremie Frimpong in the 74th minute, Salah was warmly embraced by his teammates and manager Arne Slot. In this match, he provided an assist to Curtis Jones, bringing his Premier League assist tally to 93 and breaking Steven Gerrard's Liverpool record. Over his nine-year tenure, he won every major trophy with the club, including two Premier League titles and the Champions League.

In an interview with Sky Sports, the 33-year-old admitted that the farewell was difficult: "I cried a lot – I don't think I've cried this much in my entire life. It's very hard to leave a place like this. I'm usually a tough guy who doesn't show emotions, but deep down I feel like a child. We left our youth here and returned the club to the heights it deserves."

Salah emphasized his gratitude to the fans who have cherished him since 2017. His next destination remains unknown, but his legacy at Anfield is etched forever. Liverpool has officially secured a Champions League spot for next season and is now preparing to start a new era without its main star.
