OpenAI Codex now works on smartphones

OpenAI has announced that it has adapted its programming tool, Codex, for mobile devices. The tool is now integrated into the ChatGPT app, allowing users to manage their programming workflows remotely. The update is available for all subscription tiers on iOS and Android operating systems. This is reported by Techcrunch.com reports .

According to the company's statement, this is not just about remote task monitoring, but the ability to manage the entire workflow via mobile phone. Users can view their active coding environments, issue new commands, switch models, and even start new projects.

Last month, OpenAI added background processing capabilities to Codex in desktop environments, allowing the tool to perform tasks autonomously. Additionally, a special extension for the Chrome browser was recently introduced, helping the agent work within live browser sessions.

These developments are further intensifying market competition. In particular, Anthropic recently introduced remote control functionality for Claude Code. OpenAI and Anthropic are engaged in a serious battle to make their AI-powered coding tools the most popular.
