Magnetic storm has begun on Earth

A magnetic storm is being observed on Earth: changes in the geomagnetic field were recorded after 15:00 Moscow time. Currently, the storm corresponds to a weak G1 category. This is reported by Ixbt.com .

These fluctuations in the Earth's magnetic field may continue until the end of the week. The most significant changes are expected today and Saturday, with a possibility of weak to moderate G1–G2 magnetic storms.

This is the second magnetic storm in May 2026: the first was recorded on May 4-5. As a reminder, a powerful M5.7 class solar flare occurred on May 10, which accounts for nearly 57 percent of the maximum X-class threshold.

The most impressive part of this event was an unusually large plasma ejection. It was based on a massive prominence extending several million kilometers.
