YouTube platform adds Ask YouTube and Gemini Omni AI features

Google continues to fundamentally overhaul its search engine, and these changes have also reached the YouTube platform. A new AI tool called “Ask YouTube” is now being integrated into the YouTube search bar. This feature allows users to find relevant videos using more complex and precise queries, reports Techcrunch.com reports .
“With Ask YouTube, you can ask for tips on teaching a child to ride a bike or find reviews of fun games to play before bedtime,” company representatives explained. The system not only provides answers but also analyzes Shorts and long-form videos to respond to follow-up questions. This feature is currently being tested for Premium subscribers in the US.
Additionally, Google’s new Gemini Omni video model is being added to YouTube Shorts Remix and the YouTube Create app. This model better understands user intent and helps create more coherent stories. Gemini Omni automates complex video and audio settings behind the scenes, simplifying the process for creators.
While companies like Meta and OpenAI have faced mixed results in implementing AI for short-form video, YouTube is moving cautiously. For instance, while OpenAI has paused its Sora social app, YouTube is focusing on enriching the user experience.
The platform is also expanding its “likeness-detection” tool for creators over 18. This tool protects authors from fake content created via deepfake technology. If a creator discovers their likeness has been used illegally, they have the right to request the removal of the video.
