Yandex Disk goes paid: New restrictions for computers take effect from June 3

The Yandex 360 team announced changes to the Yandex Disk service model starting June 3. Cloud features in the desktop application will now be available only via a paid subscription. Users without a paid plan will not be able to perform cloud file operations through the desktop app. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .

Despite these changes, user data will not be deleted. All files remain stored in the cloud and can be accessed for free via a web browser or mobile app. In the desktop app, users without a subscription will only be able to work with files already downloaded to the device.

The company explained this decision by the increase in system load. It is stated that working with large files via the desktop app has increased, requiring additional resources. The shift to a subscription model is intended to ensure service stability.

The free version of Yandex Disk remains unchanged on browsers and mobile devices. A paid subscription provides users with expanded storage, AI features, and other benefits of the Yandex 360 ecosystem.
