Xiaomi offers free repairs for devices damaged by flooding

Xiaomi has launched a free repair campaign for devices damaged by severe flooding and heavy rainfall in several regions of China. The temporary program announced by the company covers smartphones, tablets, laptops, wearable gadgets, and even some home appliances. This is reported by Ixbt.com .

This initiative is valid from May 22 to June 20, 2024, and primarily applies to affected districts in the Jiangxi, Hunan, and Hubei provinces. Owners of Xiaomi and Redmi branded phones, fitness trackers, smartwatches, headphones, and laptops can have water-related malfunctions diagnosed, cleaned, and repaired free of charge.

It is also reported that Xiaomi service centers will provide visitors with charging stations, Wi-Fi access, and drinking water. Users can visit offline centers in person or submit a repair request via mail. The program also applies to Mijia ecosystem products and large home appliances.

This move by Xiaomi came as a surprise to many, as water damage is typically not covered under standard warranty terms. Given that repairing water-damaged electronics, especially smartphones and laptops, is very expensive, this initiative is undoubtedly a significant help for residents affected by the natural disaster.
