Singularity is near: Google DeepMind head predicts the future of AI

Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis has announced that a major turning point in AI development — the era of technological singularity — is approaching. Speaking with Axios co-founder Mike Allen at the Google I/O conference, Hassabis emphasized that the emergence of powerful AI agents is accelerating this process. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .

Hassabis cited the example of creating mini-video games overnight using AI. According to him, such tasks previously took months to complete. "We are starting to feel these changes in practice through the systems we are seeing and using this year," he added.

According to the expert's forecast, the era of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), where machines reach human-level intelligence, will arrive by 2030. Hassabis noted that the impact of AI is still being underestimated and will cause changes 100 times more powerful than the Industrial Revolution.

Unlike some of his colleagues in Silicon Valley, the DeepMind head does not believe that machines will take over the world. Although the technology poses certain risks, he emphasized that humanity will use it effectively to solve the most complex problems in science and healthcare.
