AI Security: Google is also seeking new solutions

Google Cloud COO Francis de Souza shared his thoughts at an event in Los Angeles on the security challenges companies face in the current AI era. He emphasized that everyone, even tech giants like Google, is currently undergoing a process of learning and adapting to AI security in real-time. De Souza stressed that security should not be an element added at the end of a project, but an integral part of the strategy from the very beginning. This is reported by Techcrunch.com .

According to the expert, companies must be wary of the risk of "shadow AI" — employees using various consumer tools without organizational oversight. "There is no AI strategy without a data strategy and a security strategy. They must always go hand in hand," says de Souza. He also noted that the speed of modern cyberattacks has increased dramatically, with the time between a breach and the next stage of an attack shrinking from 8 hours to 22 seconds.

Another serious risk identified is AI agents moving within internal company systems. These agents can find forgotten, outdated SharePoint servers and databases, potentially leading to data leaks. To counter such rapid threats, de Souza suggests responding with "machine speed against machine speed," meaning a transition to fully autonomous defensive systems.

Lea Kissner, Chief Information Security Officer at LinkedIn, supported these views, stating that industry experts will have to deal with a wave of AI-induced vulnerabilities, or a "bug-pocalypse," in the coming years. This has become a strategic issue that must be addressed not only by technical teams but also at the level of company leadership and boards of directors.
