Skoda Octavia to be equipped with a full hybrid engine

Skoda has decided to enrich its popular Octavia model with a full hybrid system. According to the brand's technical chief Johannes Neft, customers will be offered both standard and full hybrid solutions in the future. This is reported by Autocar.co.uk .
The new hybrid system is based on technology used in the Volkswagen Golf and T-Roc models. It consists of a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, a seven-speed automatic transmission, an electric motor, and a 1.6 kWh battery, available in 136 or 170 horsepower versions.
A new plug-in hybrid Octavia model is also under development. It will be equipped with a 19.7 kWh battery, allowing for a long range on electric power alone. This provides tax incentives for users of the company's vehicles.
Skoda does not intend to abandon diesel engine versions either. Company CEO Klaus Zellmer emphasized that the brand aims to keep all options open in the internal combustion engine vehicle market.
A fully electric Octavia model is also planned, but it is not expected to reach mass production until the end of the decade. For now, the company is focusing on maintaining all existing engine types.
