Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced his readiness to resign from his post in order to establish peace in the country. He stated this at a press conference organized within the framework of the “Ukraine. 2025” forum in Kiev.
“If this guarantees peace for Ukraine, I am ready to leave. Or to exchange my post for NATO [membership], I do not intend to stay in power for decades,” Zelensky said.
Zelensky also noted that Ukraine received not $350 billion, but $100 billion from the United States. “$120 billion is Ukraine, $100 billion is Europe and its partners, $100 billion is the United States. Not $500, not $300, not $700… Out of respect for our partners, we will not recognize a $500 billion debt,” he said.
In addition, the Ukrainian president said that he and Biden agreed that US aid is a grant. “A grant is not a debt. I will not recognize even $100 billion… I will not sign anything that will be paid for by 10 generations of Ukrainians,” Volodymyr Zelensky stressed.
After the Russian-American talks in Riyadh, Donald Trump sharply criticized Zelensky. According to the US president, Zelensky’s rating among Ukrainians has fallen, and Trump also called him a “dictator” and called for presidential elections in Ukraine.
