Tight race for presidency in Korea: Elections set for June 3
On June 3, South Korea will hold snap presidential elections. This major political event will determine the country’s political direction for the next five years.

Voting will take place from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Although five candidates are officially running for the presidency, the main competition is among three — Lee Jae-myung, Kim Moon-soo, and another active politician. However, analysts say only Lee and Kim have real chances of winning.

In South Korea, the president is elected for a five-year term without the possibility of re-election. This practice aims to ensure political stability and create space for new ideas.

According to recent public opinion polls, Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae-myung remains the leading favorite. His statements about maintaining foreign policy balance and improving relations with Russia have drawn considerable public interest. Still, Kim Moon-soo has recently narrowed the gap, making the election outcome unpredictable.

The final results are expected to be announced late on June 3 or early on June 4. The newly elected president will assume office on June 4, Wednesday.

How this critical political turning point in South Korean history will conclude — depends on the will of the people.
