The US could not deport a Salvador citizen

Politico reports that the US government is unable to deport a Salvador citizen from the country, citing court documents. This was reported by a reporting source.

Reportedly, Abrego Garcia was deported from the US in the spring and sent to a prison in El Salvador. However, he was later accused of returning to the US and assisting migrants crossing the US-Mexico border near Texas.

He was released from custody in August 2025, but was arrested again two days later. According to a representative of the US Immigration Service, it is impossible to deport him to another country.

Uganda, Eswatini, and Ghana refused to accept a Salvador citizen. According to immigration officials, the US government attempted to admit him to one of these countries, but these attempts were unsuccessful.
