Disaster in Mexico: 64 people killed


In recent days, heavy rains in Mexico have caused floods and landslides. According to official data, at least 64 people have died and another 65 are missing.
Because of Tropical Storm Raymond, rivers overflowed, and roads and homes were damaged. President Claudia Sheinbaum said the amount of rainfall had not been expected.
The greatest losses were recorded in the states of Hidalgo and Veracruz. In Veracruz alone, 29 people were killed and dozens went missing.
The government is evacuating thousands of people to safe areas. Authorities said measures are being taken to prevent diseases that could spread after the floods.
