Italian Prime Minister Meloni held important talks in the Persian Gulf

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni recently made an official visit to the Persian Gulf states against the backdrop of the tense geopolitical situation in the Middle East. Her trips include Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Thus, Meloni became one of the first leading leaders from the European Union and NATO countries to visit the region.
The visit coincided with the ongoing military operations of the United States and Israel against Iran, as well as missile attacks in the region. The plan for this trip was kept secret until the very end for security reasons. According to Italian media reports, the country\'s special services tried to dissuade the prime minister from such a risky trip.
However, Meloni held meetings with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. A visit to Kuwait was canceled due to security concerns.
According to official sources, Meloni\'s main goal was to strengthen political and economic ties with the Gulf states and expand strategic cooperation. Analysts point to global energy security as a key factor in this visit. The Persian Gulf is an important center for oil and gas reserves, which significantly affects world prices.
During the meetings, Meloni and the Qatari emir also discussed the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the restoration of energy facilities in the region from Iranian attacks. Meloni promised to assist Qatar in this process.
This trip is said to be of great importance for European and South-West policy, as well as for global energy stability.
