A conflict over a water source in the Igote region, located in eastern Chad, turned into a bloody clash. According to reports, a dispute that began between two families escalated, leaving at least 42 people dead and another 10 injured.

According to Tchad Infos, a simple quarrel quickly intensified into acts of revenge, causing violence across the entire area. In order to stabilize the situation, the country’s president, Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, sent a high-level delegation to the region.

The mission also included Deputy Prime Minister Liman Mahamat and Minister of Defense Issaka Maloua Djamous.

According to officials, this situation is not a simple intercommunal clash, but a long-running family dispute.
