Hut 8 Finances Water System for AI Center in Louisiana

Bitcoin miner Hut 8 has announced a $16 million investment to expand the water supply system in West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana. These funds will be directed toward the construction of a new water well and eight miles of water pipelines as part of the company's River Bend artificial intelligence (AI) data center project. This is reported by Cointelegraph.com reports .

According to company data, the project is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2026. Once construction is finished, the infrastructure facilities will be handed over to the local administration at no cost. Upon full operation, the River Bend campus is expected to provide jobs for approximately 1,000 construction workers and at least 75 permanent employees.

Hut 8 is placing a strong focus on developing its AI infrastructure. Specifically, the company has signed a 15-year lease agreement in partnership with Google for a 245 MW data center at the River Bend campus. The total value of this deal is estimated at $7 billion.

Nevertheless, the Bitcoin mining sector is facing challenges. In the first quarter, miners were forced to sell over 32,000 Bitcoin, and the hashprice indicator approached the profitability threshold. Despite this, Hut 8 shares have risen by 93% since the beginning of the year due to investor interest in AI infrastructure.
