Number of family businesses in Uzbekistan is rising sharply

Entrepreneurial activity in Uzbekistan is developing consistently, with the number of family businesses, in particular, steadily increasing. According to the National Statistics Committee, as of May 1, 2026, a total of 425,800 commercial entities are operating in the country.
A large portion of these enterprises consists of limited liability companies (LLCs). Specifically, their number reached 338,900, accounting for nearly 80 percent of all enterprises.
At the same time, the number of private enterprises reached 46,300, making up 10.9 percent of the total share. Family enterprises have exceeded 36,400, occupying a significant place in the entrepreneurial system. Their share is equal to 8.6 percent.
Joint-stock companies are relatively few, with their number totaling 645. Enterprises in other organizational-legal forms were recorded at around 3,400.
