Driver falling asleep causes major traffic accident in Samarkand

On May 16, a major traffic accident occurred in the Samarkand region after a truck driver fell asleep at the wheel. This was reported by the regional Road Safety Department.
It is reported that around 04:30, at the 118th kilometer of the M-37 Samarkand–Bukhara–Turkmenbashi highway, passing through the Boltali neighborhood in the Pakhtachi district, a FAW truck driver traveling in the Samarkand–Navoi direction fell asleep.
Subsequently, the driver lost control and collided with the left side of a SINOTRUK HOWO truck parked on the side of the road in the same direction. Due to the force of the impact, the driver could not bring the vehicle to a complete stop and also collided with the rear of another parked SINOTRUK HOWO truck.
The accident resulted in a fire involving the FAW and SINOTRUK HOWO trucks. The fire was extinguished in a short time by personnel from the Emergency Situations Department who arrived at the scene.
According to preliminary information, there were no injuries or fatalities. Currently, an investigation is being conducted by officers of the Pakhtachi District Internal Affairs Department's Road Safety Service.
