Fifth-grade student dies from high-voltage electric shock in Namangan

A heartbreaking tragedy has occurred in the Namangan region, leaving the entire community in deep sorrow and serving as a stark warning. The untimely death of a young schoolboy has brought immense pain not only to his family but to the entire neighborhood. According to the "Millar" news program, the accident took place on May 5th around 7:37 PM in the Davlatobod district of Namangan city.
The desire for cherries and an unexpected explosion
According to preliminary information from responsible authorities, the 12-year-old boy, born in 2013, spotted a cherry tree with ripe fruit on the street. In an attempt to reach the fruit, he climbed onto a high-voltage electrical transformer located nearby, which lacked any protective fencing. Unfortunately, due to carelessness, the boy was struck by a powerful electric current and sustained severe injuries at the scene.
It has been revealed that the boy's mother had gone abroad for work, and he was being cared for by his aunt.
“My nephew returned from school around 5:30 PM. Shortly after, he went out to play football with his friends. Since there is no sports ground near our house, they played at the edge of the neighborhood. We didn't see whether he touched the transformer or climbed inside. Suddenly, there was a loud flash and an explosion, and neighbors ran out. Trying to provide first aid to the boy, who was in agony, they applied mud from a nearby canal; he was still alive,” the grieving aunt recalls through tears.
The woman says that neighbors rushed the boy to a nearby hospital, but the medical facility failed to provide the necessary, prompt, and quality emergency care. When the aunt arrived at the hospital, doctors informed her that he had already passed away. A forensic medical examination has been ordered to officially confirm the exact cause of death.
Negligence of officials and indifference of the neighborhood
The boy, who passed away too soon, was a 5th-grade student at Secondary School No. 56 in the Davlatobod district. His relatives blame the local power grid company and neighborhood officials for this tragedy.
“If that deadly transformer had been securely fenced with iron bars and its doors locked, my nephew would be with us today, safe and sound. The power supply staff were extremely irresponsible. Wires are hanging loose, and even now, the area is open and unlocked. After the tragedy, they only cleaned up the trash and moved the wires slightly, but they still haven't installed a safety barrier. Another neighbor's child could have died in my son's place. What hurts most is that neither the neighborhood committee nor the housing association reached out to us. They didn't even bother to offer condolences,” says a close relative of the deceased.
The Prosecutor General's Office press service issued an official statement regarding this tragic incident. Based on the collected documents, the district prosecutor's office is conducting an active pre-investigation check. Additionally, a special service investigation has been ordered into the actions of the Davlatobod district power supply company employees for their negligence. It is expected that the rule of law will be upheld and the guilty will be held accountable.
In your opinion, who should be directly responsible for ensuring the safety of such open and dangerous transformers in neighborhoods?
