Frida Kahlo's self-portrait was sold at auction for $54.7 million

Frida Kahlo\'s 1940 self-portrait El sueño (La cama) (\"Dream (Bed) \") was sold at Sotheby\'s auction in New York for $54.7 million and became the artist\'s most expensive work. This was reported by the Associated Press.
The painting El sueño (La cama), taken from a private collection, depicts Kalo sleeping on a wooden bed, surrounded by clouds, lianas, and leaves. A skeleton surrounded by dynamite on a mattress. The painting depicts the pain, death, and personal story of the artist, who was in a serious car accident at the age of 18 and was bedridden for many years.
