Judo. Uzbekistan defeated Kazakhstan to reach the semi-finals

In Bulgaria’s capital Sofia, the mixed team event of the Cadet Judo World Championships has entered a hot phase. Team Uzbekistan advanced to the 1/2 final. In the uncompromising 1/4-final bouts against Kazakhstan, our judoka earned a very hard victory. The main series ended 3:3. In the deciding duel that determined the winner’s name, Zuhrajon Umarova prevailed over her opponent. Aggregate score — 4:3, which means Uzbekistan is into the next stage!

In short, our team showed character: bench power, persistence in the last minutes and psychological stability helped turn the anticipated scenario of the match to our side.

Bracket in the frame — current state

Pool A:

  • France — Uzbekistan: 1–4

  • Kazakhstan — Bulgaria: 4–1

  • Pool A final: Uzbekistan — Kazakhstan: 4–3Uzbekistan progressed to the next round in the overall bracket

Pool B:

  • Mongolia — Chinese Taipei: 4–2

  • IJF (International Judo Federation) — Germany: 4–2

  • Pool B final: Mongolia — IJF (to be decided)

In the final bracket, Uzbekistan’s opponent will come from the winner of Pool B. Thus, all focus now is on the clash between the 

Mongolian and the IJF Team: whoever advances, our side will need fresh tactical solutions and maximum concentration.

A brief takeaway for our supporters: the day in Sofia became a test of will and skill. After the decisive victory paved by Zuhrajon Umarova, our rising generation once again demonstrated readiness for the big stage in judo. Now the next step — to yet another historic contest!
