Xabi Alonso close to becoming Chelsea head coach

Xabi Alonso has confirmed through social media posts that he is close to taking charge of Chelsea. The Spanish tactician is expected to become the permanent head coach at Stamford Bridge following the dismissal of Liam Rosenior. This is reported by Goal.com reports .

Alonso shared a Marca article on his X page regarding his move to the London club. Although the post was later deleted, it suggests that an agreement on a four-year contract has been reached between the parties. The coach held face-to-face negotiations with club management in London last week.

Having achieved historic results in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen and winning the Bundesliga title undefeated, Alonso now takes on the task of ending Chelsea's crisis period. He has been without a club since ending his tenure at Real Madrid in January.

Currently, Chelsea finished the season under interim manager Calum McFarlane. The team lost 0-1 to Manchester City in the FA Cup final, which accelerated the club board's decision to appoint a new, experienced coach.
