James Maddison admits embarrassment over Tottenham's situation and injury fears

James Maddison has spoken openly about Tottenham's current dire situation, calling the club's proximity to the relegation zone "embarrassing." Although the English midfielder has returned from a long-term injury, he is giving his all to lift his team out of the danger zone. This is reported by Goal.com .
In Tuesday night's match at Stamford Bridge, Tottenham lost 2-1 to Chelsea. Goals from Enzo Fernandez and Andrey Santos gave the hosts the advantage, while Richarlison's consolation goal was not enough for the visitors. Following this defeat, Spurs remain 17th in the Premier League table, just two points above the relegation zone.
If 18th-placed West Ham win against Leeds in the final round and Tottenham lose, the North London club will be relegated to the Championship. In an interview with Sky Sports, Maddison addressed the club's crisis this season: "We have to give everything for the club, the badge, and the fans. Being in this position is a bit embarrassing," he stated.
The midfielder also did not hide his concerns regarding his health. Having returned to the pitch after major knee surgery in April, the player fears suffering another injury. "Anyone who works in football or has had such an injury knows that returning to the top level immediately is not easy. If something else happens, it could be catastrophic for my career," James Maddison added.
