Vincent Kompany shares an unexpected story: Bayern coach forgot the Meisterschale at home

Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany shared an interesting and slightly worrying story that occurred during the Munich club's Bundesliga title celebrations. The Belgian specialist admitted that at the height of the festivities, the famous "Meisterschale" trophy awarded to the German champion went missing. This is reported by Goal.com .

The former Manchester City captain revealed that in the excitement, he had left the prestigious trophy at his home, specifically in the kitchen. In an interview with Bild, Kompany explained the situation: "We were here and suddenly realized the trophy was missing. Then I remembered: 'Oh, it's at home'. The trophy was lying in the kitchen. I completely forgot that someone had given it to me the day before and said, 'Vinny, bring this with you tomorrow'."

The team was preparing for the official reception when it was discovered that the most important trophy in German football had been left next to the toaster. The coach's wife, Carla Higgs, saved the day — she delivered the trophy to the city center just before the celebrations began. Kompany realized his mistake while heading to Marienplatz in Munich.

While the team members were being received by Deputy Mayor Dominik Krause on the second floor of the city hall, the Meisterschale was still on its way. The trophy arrived in the hall just as Bayern president Herbert Hainer was giving a speech to the guests. Afterward, the players went out onto the city hall balcony as per tradition to celebrate the title in front of thousands of fans.

During the celebrations, there were also emotional moments for Leon Goretzka. The midfielder, who is expected to leave the club after this season, was moved by the fans' applause. In his honor and respecting his roots in Bochum, the club played Herbert Grönemeyer's famous "Bochum" anthem, and the fans bid a warm farewell to the star player.
