Alonso's misfortune and the race against time

An unfortunate incident occurred in the second qualifying session involving experienced Spanish driver Fernando Alonso. Despite holding the 14th fastest time, he was unable to advance to the final session after losing control of his car and crashing on the track. Consequently, stewards imposed a penalty, setting his start for the sprint race at 16th position. as his starting spot.

At the time of Alonso's crash, there was only 1 minute and 50 seconds left in the session. After rapid repairs to the track safety barriers, the session was restarted. However, in the remaining short time, only two drivers — Carlos Sainz and Lance Stroll — managed to start a new lap. Due to the limited time, they were unable to improve their previous lap times.
