Florian Wirtz comments on Mohamed Salah's controversial post

Liverpool midfielder Florian Wirtz has explained why he 'liked' Mohamed Salah's controversial social media post. Many interpreted the post as a criticism of head coach Arne Slot. The German player emphasized that there is no rebellion within the squad, stating that the Egyptian forward was simply expressing his thoughts at the end of the season. This is reported by Goal.com reports .

Mohamed Salah criticized the team's current tactical direction on his Instagram page, hinting at a need to return to the high-intensity style of the Jurgen Klopp era. This fueled rumors of a deteriorating relationship between Arne Slot and Salah, especially after the match against Inter. Florian Wirtz claims the media has blown the situation out of proportion.

“Mo knows the club very well, he is a sincere person. He says what he thinks, and that is normal. If someone wants to speak, they should have the right to do so. I think this situation was made out to be bigger than it actually is. He didn't attack anyone,” Wirtz explained in an interview with The Athletic.

According to the midfielder, the players' support for the post is not an act against the coach, but a sign of respect for their teammate. Wirtz added that he values Salah's mentality and work ethic, noting that as an experienced player who has seen a lot, he was calling for the club to stay alert.

Liverpool is currently focused on securing a Champions League spot. Wirtz stated that the squad is strong and that they will fight for even better results in the new season after the summer break.
