An important step has been taken to further develop military cooperation between Uzbekistan and Qatar. On May 21, the Minister of Defense of Uzbekistan, Lieutenant General Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov, visited Doha and held a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al Thani.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the dialogue focused on recent developments in regional security, the current situation, and new challenges. The parties paid special attention to strengthening military cooperation, developing joint coordination mechanisms, and exchanging experience in the current environment.
The meeting noted that relations between Uzbekistan and Qatar have been intensifying in recent years. In particular, the dialogue between the two countries on security, defense, and regional stability is becoming increasingly important.
Cooperation in the military sphere is not limited to official meetings. Such agreements can create a foundation for future personnel training, experience exchange, joint exercises, defense consultations, and practical security-related ties.

At the end of the meeting, a memorandum of understanding on military cooperation was signed between Uzbekistan and Qatar. This document serves as an important legal basis for establishing systematic relations between the defense agencies of the two countries and expanding cooperation in new areas.
It is worth noting that Qatar opened its embassy in Uzbekistan in 2023. This diplomatic step was one of the key events that brought relations between the two countries to a new level. Now, the signing of the memorandum on military cooperation shows that the reliable partnership between Tashkent and Doha is further strengthening.
In short, Uzbekistan and Qatar have taken a practical step toward deepening ties in the defense sector. The meeting in Doha and the signed memorandum could open new opportunities for security, stability, and military cooperation between the two countries. This means that relations are moving from mere diplomatic dialogue to a concrete format of practical cooperation.
