Milan dismisses Massimiliano Allegri and the entire management

AC Milan has decided to part ways with head coach Massimiliano Allegri following an unsuccessful end to the Serie A season. After missing out on a Champions League spot in the final round, the 'Rossoneri' board took drastic measures on Monday. Reports suggest Allegri is expected to replace Antonio Conte at Napoli soon. This is reported by Goal.com .

This decision, which caused a stir in Italian football, was not limited to the coach. The owners at RedBird Capital have also initiated a major clear-out of the club's management. Alongside Allegri, CEO Giorgio Furlani, Sporting Director Igli Tare, and Technical Director Geoffrey Moncada have also been relieved of their duties.

The club's decision was triggered by a 2-1 defeat against Cagliari in the final round of Serie A. As a result, Milan dropped to fifth place and will compete in the Europa League next season. This is seen as a serious decline for a team that has now missed out on the continent's most prestigious tournament for two consecutive seasons.

In a statement regarding the season's conclusion, the club owners described the final result as an absolute failure, given that the team had been in the top two for most of the year. For Allegri, his second spell at San Siro has ended in disappointment. The 58-year-old, who returned to replicate his 2010-2014 success, lasted only one season this time.

Como pushed Milan out of the top four. For Allegri, who won five Scudettos and five Coppa Italia titles with Juventus, this event remains one of the few setbacks in his illustrious coaching career.
