Napoli makes a surprise decision: Massimiliano Allegri could take charge

Following the departure of Antonio Conte, Napoli is considering Massimiliano Allegri as the primary candidate for the vacant head coach position. To kick off a new era at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, the club's management aims to bring in a highly experienced specialist. Allegri, who was dismissed from Milan on Monday, has become an unexpected but serious candidate for the Neapolitan club. This is according to a report by Goal.com.

According to renowned Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, club president Aurelio De Laurentiis believes Allegri is the most suitable coach to lead the team toward new victories. After Antonio Conte's official departure, the situation in Naples changed rapidly. Following the era of Conte, who won the Scudetto and the Italian Super Cup, the club's management has decided to move in a different direction.

For Massimiliano Allegri, his second spell at Milan ended unsuccessfully. The team missed out on a Champions League spot and finished the season in fifth place, which led to his dismissal. Nevertheless, Allegri's reputation and experience in Italian football continue to attract De Laurentiis. Despite the coach having a contract with Milan until 2027, a move to the south could be the ideal solution for him.

Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna is playing a key role in this potential move. Manna previously worked with Allegri at Juventus, and they share a strong professional relationship. According to Calciomercato, Manna has already met with Allegri for dinner in Milan to discuss future plans. The parties are expected to reach an agreement soon.
