Mathys Tel transfer puts Bayern sporting director's position at risk

There is no peace in the corridors of the Allianz Arena. Despite a domestic double under Vincent Kompany, Bayern's leadership is discussing the future of sporting director Max Eberl. The tension within the club is reportedly fueled by the controversial transfer decision regarding Mathys Tel's move to Tottenham. This is reported by Goal.com reports .
Although the team is successful on the pitch, the situation behind the scenes is considered highly unstable. Bayern honorary president Uli Hoeness openly stated in an interview before the DFB-Pokal final that the extension of Eberl's contract beyond 2027 is in question. According to him, the supervisory board is still hesitant regarding the former Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Mönchengladbach specialist.
The main criticisms against Eberl relate to the sale of key squad players, specifically the transfer of Mathys Tel to Tottenham. Critics within Bayern are unhappy that Eberl failed to secure maximum value for the French talent, as well as for Kingsley Coman. This has raised doubts among the leadership regarding the financial returns from high-profile transfers.
According to Kicker, the record champions are no longer a unified front, and the management structure is divided due to internal disagreements over transfer strategy. Hoeness's public criticism has not been well-received by other supervisory board members, signaling a power struggle in the club's upper echelons.
Despite the uncertainty in the sports department, stability remains at the top level of the club's management. While Eberl fights for his future, CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen's position is considered secure. Extending his contract is said to be a mere formality, showing that the board's confidence in financial management outweighs that in sporting management.
