Barcelona submits €80 million bid for Anthony Gordon

Catalan club Barcelona has taken an official step to sign Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon. Head coach Hansi Flick views the English winger as a primary target to strengthen the attacking line. According to reports, Barcelona has offered €80 million plus additional bonuses for the player. This is reported by Goal.com .
Sporting director Deco and Hansi Flick highly value Gordon's talent. They consider him a suitable replacement for Marcus Rashford, who played for the team on loan. Although Barcelona has an option to buy Rashford for €30 million, the management found the younger and lower-wage Gordon more beneficial in the long term.
Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe hinted that the club was preparing for his sale by leaving Gordon out of the squad for several matches at the end of the season. Negotiations are currently ongoing between the two clubs, and the Catalans aim to finalize the deal as soon as possible.
Bayern Munich was also one of the main contenders in the race for Anthony Gordon. However, as the Munich club hesitated over the €80 million price tag, Barcelona took the lead. Chelsea and Arsenal have also shown interest in the player.
Recall that Gordon was very close to joining Liverpool in 2024, but the transfer did not materialize at the time. Now that Liverpool has dropped out of the race, the opportunity for the player to head to the Spanish league seems open.
