Meta strengthens online safety for teenagers

Meta is introducing a new system that allows parents to monitor teenagers’ conversations with artificial intelligence. The decision follows criticism over chatbots engaging in inappropriate interactions with minors.
Through the new feature, parents will be able to disable their children’s private chats with AI or view the general topics they discuss.
Meta will launch this feature in early 2026 in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia via Instagram.
Meta representatives emphasized that chatbots will not discuss harmful topics with teenagers, including suicide or eating disorders.
