Discord introduces end-to-end encrypted calls for all users

The popular messenger Discord has launched end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for voice and video calls for all users on its platform. This update is a significant step in ensuring communication privacy, meaning that not even Discord itself can listen to users' conversations. This is reported by Techcrunch.com reports .
According to company representative Marc Smith, this feature requires no additional settings and has been activated automatically for everyone. The encryption system applies to all private voice and video calls on the platform, with the exception of public channels known as "stage channels."
This change comes at a time when privacy issues are being hotly debated in the tech world. Notably, Meta has moved away from encrypted messaging features on Instagram, and TikTok has stated it will not implement end-to-end encryption for messages in the US market.
While Discord introduced this technology as a trial in 2024, it has now become a standard security measure for hundreds of millions of users worldwide. This is a major achievement in protecting users' personal data and communication security.
